Instinct is the nose of the mind (Delphine de Girardin)

Wie geht's?

House selling is such a stressful activity. We had Maple Grove on the market for almost a year with no luck so we took it off the market and relaxed. All that presentation prep without reward equals stress.

Six months goes by...until, out of the blue a couple who had viewed it in January reignited their interest - stress returns!

According to last night's news, your nose gets colder when you're stressed. Huh! The nose knows. In the current situation, Jacky told me she thinks her nose is going to fall off! She has a really cute nose so this would be a tragedy.

Hopefully, we'll have a resolution one way or the other a.s.a.p. and her pretty little nose can warm up.

Take the trip, eat the cake, buy the vinyl.

Wie geht's?

Before leaving for work this morning I told Jacky that I was expecting a couple of packages today.

She knows that means records and she knows (because she told me) that I buy records on-line when I'm stressed. Actually, her words were - when you're stressed you buy records. I think that's a direct quote.

Stressed = buy records.

It's a tricky one, because I buy vinyl when I'm not stressed as well.

So, not stressed = buy records.

In this instance though, she's spot on.

It's practice exam time at school, my Office Administrator is on leave, which means I need to scan exam scripts back to teachers for marking, which is okay if the scanner is working.

Yesterday it wasn't.

There's always a work around. It's just stressful sometimes going through the search for one that works.

So, looking forward to those records!

Wie geht's?

Thanks to Covid-19, if you live anywhere except New Zealand, you are probably sick and tired of being sick and tired, lacking energy, plain tuckered out and cream crackered!

Our children live all over the world, including Covid hotspots like California and Victoria in Australia.

They've been in lockdowns, off and on, for ages but along with a lot of people they continue to aim to do the right thing and remain safe.

We're lucky because they remain in high spirits and ease our worries about their situation.

However, the longer the world battles with lockdowns and Covid-19, fatigue is a real issue. That may be moral fatigue, zoom fatigue, or caution fatigue.

New Zealand leaders took early action, closed borders and reopened the economy in stages when it was safe to do so. It helps we are isolated down here at the bottom of the world, but it's been a blessing having strong leadership making decisive decisons.

It can be done. Stay strong world.

It's the terror of knowing what the world is about (Queen/Bowie)

Stress City, Arizona. You don't want to go there.

Stress comes in all shapes and sizes.

Selling your house, which we are currently doing, is stressful. There's also work stress - been a tough two weeks, and for me to say that...

Some may argue that stress doesn't even exist. My old boss at Cambridge High School, Alison Annan, was a non-believer.

However, lately my wife (SWMBO),  has remarked, "You look  stressed", so I suspect it does exist. She's never wrong.

The Oxford Dictionary says that stress is a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or demanding circumstances.

Okay. So Alison was wrong. It's a thing, okay?!

Do I feel stressed? Not particularly, but for SWMBO to notice it, I guess I act and look stressed.

Particularly when Saturday morning comes. It's like I'm trudging through molasses and if we travel I haven't the energy to drive and my end of the conversation is pretty monosyllabic.

In other words, after a week of demanding full on brain salad surgery (myriads of decisions and mass human interactions all day long for five days), communicating with anyone, even my BFF is the last thing I want to do.

So this weekend, we went to the beach and that helped, and to Real Groovy in Auckland and that felt GGRRREAT!

I'm back baby!!

[BTW/ sidebar: here are some ideas to help relieve stress - personally I don't go for the soothing music option - on Friday night I came home and whacked on a Rory Gallagher album and played air guitar to Shadow Play, but, you know, whatever works, right?]
